TEXT: Gen 12:1-2
‘’The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

Abraham was an example of a disciple who followed the Lord focusing only on his promises. He did this in faith and He eventually became the Father of faith. No one can truly follow the Lord except in faith for such must believe that God truly is and that he is the rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”Is” here is in the present tense which means God must ever be real to a disciple if he will not lose his gaze in Christ. Have faith in his reality. Faithfulness must not be a thing of the past if not we will derail from the road. As we can see from the life of Abraham, there are many challenges a disciple will face ranging from lack of cloth, shelter, seemingly wandering on a path, barrenness etc but all these are nothing. Faith in Christ will open the treasures of heaven for a true disciple. Only one challenge is the main problem of a disciple which is comparison with the world and worldly gain or the life of other disciples. With faith you will overcome other ones but with this main challenge of comparison, faith will be deflated. Are you losing focus on God’s promises? Are you comparing your journey with others? Are you on the verge of giving up? Focus on Christ alone and you will see the power of God(John 21:22) .

Father, I fix my heart on you as I walk in your divine promises.Father, strengthen the saints in this nation as we hold on to your promises.
