TOPIC: CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH 2

TEXT: Jude 1:3 (MSG) Dear friends, I’ve dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common. I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish.

LESSONS

How do we contend for this precious faith??

Understand the faith and give no place to the flesh.

( John 3:16,Luke 9:23,Gal 2:20,Rom 8:11,Roman 5:19 ,Roman 10:10,Matt 11:28).

These are very simple.

The falling of man into disobedience is the basis of all sin.

Self took control instead of the leading of the Spirit.

Then the devil gained opportunity to take over the earth. The first sin was Pride from the heart of Satan because of his beauty and liberty (Ezekiel 28:12-14). And man was deceived by same and took independence from God’s instruction.Other carnal behaviours are manifestations of independence of man.

So true restoration to the Kingdom must bring total dependence, obedience and humility.

To those who believed, he promised all needs will be met(Matthew 6:33),then we can exercise our personal faith in this. He paid the price to make this possible by coming down from glory so that we can ascend back into glory of such life. His descension is our ascension (Heb 2:10).He humbled himself to carry the cross .Then we must understand why cross is important. This is the final demarcation of the old and new. Before the cross is the old life but after the cross is the new man(Gal 3:13,1Cor 1:18,Luke 9:23).

The Cross is the final end to self and the enthronement of God in man. He then manifest from his throne in our heart to the world. Without him sitting on the throne in our heart ,we cannot manifest him in the world. We must carry our cross daily which is the symbol of death so that self will no longer rule but the Spirit in absolute submission.

Prayer Alert

Arm me with the right weapon to contend earnestly for this precious faith. Amen
