TOPIC: THE PRECIOUS FAITH
TEXT: 2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
LESSONS
Our common faith can also be called the precious faith. It is precious because of the ingredient of its making. It takes the precious blood to make the precious faith. The precious faith is founded upon the apostolic confession of Peter. The first building block was the revelation of the Lordship of Christ and believe in Him.
This Faith is precious having defiled swords, fire, persecution and even death. This faith cannot die, it is immortal. It was thrown into the tomb, it came back alive. This Faith was baked in the furnace of affliction and carried by twelve burning hearts who turned the earth upside down. This precious faith has been defended by the death of countless saints starting with our Lord Jesus Christ and Stephen. It has been carried jealously or the years, through these faith men that have turned down kingdoms.
Finally, this precious faith is unchanging and cannot be added to. No one can improve this faith other than trying to improve on what the Lord has done. This faith was made simple and easy and put in a take-away pack of ‘ if ye shall believe on the Lord Jesus Christ’. The faith was made unchanging so that it could produce standard quality of saints for years eternity. It is this same faith that we too have come to accept, so we have no excuse to become anything lesser than the Apostles. The least of us shall be stronger than David. We carry in our bossom the same thing the Apostles and Martyrs carried. We bear the lamb that glowed over generations, we bear in our minds the candles that have burnt over ages defiling the thickest darkness of men ever thought of. We bear the like precious faith purchased no less than by the blood of the lamb. This precious faith is as a uniform blood which flows in us saints starting from the coast of Caesarae at Philip where the stone was laid. Matt16:13-19. Praise God for this precious faith.
Faith of our fathers, living still,
In spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
Whenever we hear that glorious Word!
Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.
Faith of our fathers, we will strive
To win all nations unto Thee;
And through the truth that comes from God,
We all shall then be truly free.
Faith of our fathers, we will love
Both friend and foe in all our strife;
And preach Thee, too, as love knows how
By kindly words and virtuous life.
PRAYER ALERT.
Father! I worship and thank you for the precious faith handed over to me over the ages.
