BUILDER’S DEVOTIONAL DATE: MONDAY,OCTOBER 21,2019 TOPIC: THE GREATEST ENEMY IS SELF TEXT: Luke 14:31-33 31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.
NIV LESSONS The most important factor to be a successful Christian is the willingness to deny yourself in order to follow God fully. Forget that you exist, forget yourself, and release yourself to follow God alone all the way. These are the people God will use to execute his agenda on the earth. Self justification began with Adam after the fall and that is the real fall (Gen 3:12). Self defense, excuse for doing the wrong thing and many more are pitfalls of any successful life. The nature of man after the fall is conditioned to work against the will of God. After salvation, you will need to retrain this body for him to work in line with God’s will. You must deliberately release this self. This is the beginning of discipline. It is central to success.
Beloved, so much potential are in you, people celebrate you right and left. But it will not be fully expressed except self is denied, disciplined to follow the will of God and work at his pace for his agenda to have a bearing in your hand. PRAYER ALERT
God ,help me to deny self so that I can work with you daily
